I write a lot of content online. I write content for my own niche sites, my blogs, and for Squidoo... I write content for article marketing and for Associated Content. Beyond my own projects, I also work with another company and I write content for their niche sites, blogs and websites. I also do article marketing for their projects, too.

Bottom line is, I write a LOT of content...lots and LOTS of content.

No matter what part of internet marketing you are involved in, content writing is crucial to your business. Perhaps you are fortunate enough to have the resources to pay someone else to write all your content, but for most of us, this is simply not an option.

As I looked towards expanding my business, I knew I had to look for a way to speed up my content writing. I needed solid tools to make my content writing not only better, but I wanted the out-put to be faster....and I wanted tools that helped me make my writing more PROFITABLE.

I found my system. I am so happy with this new system. I researched and read...and finally put a system together with tools that really help my business. I am thrilled! My writing system has helped my content writing in all the areas I mentioned. Best of all, it has made finding profitable niches and writing content FOR those niches soooooooooo much easier.

Ok - 'nuff said. Here are is my step by step process for content writing. I have included the links to the tools I use. Some are free, some are not. As we all know, I am a BIG fan of free tools.... but I also know there comes a time to invest in your business.

I also knew that if I was to buy content for even a small, 20-page niche site, that I would be paying at least $5 an article. That ONE niche site would cost me $100. One hundred dollars of my hard-earned money for content I used ONE time. If I liked article spinners, maybe I could get more that a one-time use, but I don't like spun articles. Just my opinion.

Once I actually saw how much quality tools would SAVE me, I saw the price tags in a much different light. If you are also in the market for tools such as these, I encourage you to click thru to these sites, really read the info pages, watch the informational videos..... research reviews on these products (just as I have done), then make an informed and educated decision.

Ok - here we go.

Easy Content Writing System in Three Steps

Step 1 - Find a Niche / Identify Your Keywords

Sometimes I know exactly what I want/need to write about, sometimes I am looking for a new niche idea or article idea. Whatever the case is, I have found Niche Inspector to be an incredibly valuable tool. Much of the content I write goes on pages that are monetized with AdSense. If you want to make any money from your niche sites with AdSense, you had BETTER have some sort of clue as to what niches/keywords are profitable. Working your butt off on a site, blindly building 20 pages of content only to earn a penny per click is NO FUN..... It is also no smart business.

Niche Inspector is a desktop software program that is no short of awesome. If I know my keyword, I enter it into NI and it returns monthly search volume, search result count from Google, Yahoo, AND MSN... the KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) of each word and the number of ads each keyword has on PPC results. (Knowing how many advertisers are paying for ads in your niche is a VERY important detail). Not only that, Niche Inspector also tells you HOW MUCH the advertisers are paying for top placement for each individual keyword.

THAT is PRICELESS! So, if I am comparing two niches I would like to target, I go NI and enter the corresponding keywords. Answer this, if both niches seem equally profitable, BUT one niche has advertisers paying $4 for a top placement ad, and the other has PPC advertisers paying only 50 cents for a top placement....which niche would YOU work in?

Now, if I DON'T have a niche in mind, or I am trying to think of something, I simply go to Niche Inspector and click "brainstorm". NI will toss out 100 random broad keywords with all of above info with them. What an EASY way to identify profitable niches.

Step 2 - Further Keyword Research

I'm not one to trust any ONE source of information, so once I have niche or keyword ideas on hand, I head on over to SEOBook. If you go to the free keyword tool there, you will find a plethora of free keyword research information.

Enter your keyword into the keyword tool, choose your country that you'd like results from, then click "suggest". Within a few seconds, the keyword tool will return a wealth of information.

From this tool, you can get:

Monthly search volume of each word
# of Google returns
# of Yahoo returns
# of MSN returns
Info from Yahoo Suggest
Info from WordTracker
Info from Keyword Discovery
Info from Google Trends
Google traffic estimator info for each word
Google Suggest
Google Synonyms
AdWords Keyword tool info
Info from Quinura

All, right there, nice and neat...... and ready for you to further analyze your potential keyword or niche.

Fantastic tool.

3 - Write that content

Now, you have your list of keywords, or maybe even a single keyword you want your niche article, blog post, or any other content to focus on. You already know that this niche/keyword has definite potential to be profitable for you. (Yes, I say "potential" because in this business, NOTHING is certain).

Now it is time to write.

I don't know about y'all, but this can be the hardest part for me. A blank "piece of paper" and limited knowledge on the topic I need to write on..... how intimidating! Not only that, but the time it takes for me to research the topic and get knowledgeable enough to where I feel I CAN write on the subject is VERY time consuming.

It has been, without doubt, the most frustrating part of content writing for me. I cannot stand to write about something and pretend I know what I'm talking about - I KNOW it shows to those who are reading it and DO know about the topic. Also, "little" things such as certain jargon of a subject area, are hard to fake, aren't they?

I have found a desktop software program that has ended this misery for me and had made my time spent writing much more profitable (ie, less time spent doing it). I can crank out a high-quality and ORIGINAL article on ANY topic in 15 minutes now - whether I knew anything about the topic beforehand or not. Before, it would take me at least an hour to get ready to write about an unknown topic....now I can actually write 3-4 articles in that same hour.

The software program I decided to use is called Instant Article Wizard. This software was created by Jonathan Leger and after having interaction with him on other products of his, I knew that his service, his product, and his FOLLOW-UP would be outstanding.

As I said, Instant Article Wizard is a desktop software program that you install on your computer. After opening the software, you enter your keyword(s) and let the program run a minute or two. What the software does is scour the internet for all single sentences that have your keyword in them. Presto , all your research is right there in front of you.

Wait, that is not "all" it does. You can then write the outline for your article from the software program. This program breaks everything down into topics relating to your keyword(s) and you choose sentences you want to use in your article. When you are done, you export (copy/paste) your article to your notepad or word processor and edit it into your words.

Let me make this clear - this is not plagarism. This program is not designed for you to take all these individual sentences as you find them and post them to your site as is. First off, that is wrong. Secondly, there is no point using copied content on your sites. If you want duplicate content, purchase PLR articles or get content from article directories. This program is designed to cut down on the time it takes you to research and write your own ORIGINAL, high-quality content.

Instant Article Wizard is AWESOME! Not only that, it is so easy to use. I never read the users manual. I learned all I needed to know from the informational videos on the Instant Article Wizard info page. I installed it, and was using it for new content within minutes.

Yes, that easy! (even for ME! haha)

To test my system, I made a Squidoo lens today to see how long it would take me to put it all together with no idea of WHAT I was going to make the lens on.

Start to finish - 1 hour. That includes linking to my new lens from other lenses and pinging it, etc. The whole new lens process.

Know what took me the longest? Finding and setting up the images and affiliate links. Also, formatting the text on the lens, getting the images on page, and all the other "curb appeal" goodies. You can see the new lens here . If you are reading this today, 11/23, it is possible you wont be able to see it yet. Squidoo has to "index" it (check it) before it can go public and that usually happens over-night. That lens is brand new - just made it today while watching football with my hubby (while I was sitting in the recliner on my laptop....what a life!)

So - that is my new super-duper, awesome content writing system.

When learning how to start an online business, I'm sure you came across someone mentioning the phrase, "niche market". The all-illusive, all-important target-market for your business known as your niche.

Niche. Some pronounce it "neesh" and some pronounce it "nitch". Why? Heck if I know... I think it has to do with what side of the "pond" you live on and if you pronounce tomato as "toe-may-toe" or "toe-mah-toe". In my personal opinion, if "niche" was supposed to be pronounced as "nitch", then why didn't we just spell it n-i-t-c-h?

Anyway....

Please, Define a Niche...

Finding a niche market in any business is crucial to its success. I read somewhere a great conceptual definition of a niche market. A niche is a market within a market, if that makes sense.

Lets take for example, Cat Food. The cat food market is pretty well dominated, right? If you were interested in penetrating that market it would feel like running into a solid, brick wall. However, in your niche research, you found a little chip in the brick wall....a little hole that you could work with. Say you found an area for cat food for adult cats, or cat food for indoor cats, and that market was NOT saturated with products, yet DOES have a market that is pretty much under-served. Bingo - you found a niche market.

Think: Vitamins. Think: Vitamins for Women. Think: Vitamins for pregnant women, vitamins for older women, vitamins for vegetarian women...etc etc. The niche finding thought process starts there. Then you do your market research and keyword research to find a viable market you can be profitable in.

Seems easy enough, right? Sadly, if you are like most of us, that brain freeze locks in. When you can think about anything in the world, why suddenly does nothing come to mind?

I've always wondered what brainstorming processes successful internet marketers use to find those golden niches. The internet is an endless buffet of brain food to feed a brainstorming session for a new niche market to conquer - what are their secrets?

How to Find a Profitable Niche Market

I found a fantastic free video entitled "Find Your Niche" that is put out by an extremely successful internet marketer names Jermaine Griggs.

Jermaine Griggs, is different from these other internet marketing guru types. Mr Griggs started off online with a grand total of $70 at the age of 17. He turned an idea into millions - and changed his life.

Jermaine's niche is so unusual - so unique - and it turned into a goldmine for him. Ready for this niche he found? Learning Piano by Ear.

Can you stand it?? Who would ever think of that? and HOW did he think of that?

Jermaine shows this video of his sales from 2002-2007. You actually see him go from making $2000 to months of $112,000+... but I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that he makes this much as an online piano teacher (and 80% of his products are focused around gospel music at that).

I'm really excited to be talking about Jermaine today. He has a phenomenal site launching tomorrow where for a grand total of $2.97, I can get inside his brain for a full month. No, I didn't misplace the decimal - that is two dollars and ninety-seven cents. I told ya, he's not like the other $297 gurus...lol!

If you watch his video on his info page and see the story he tells of his up-bringing and the circumstances he rose above, you will most likely be just as amazed as I am at his accomplishments. Jermaine pretty much takes the phrase, "I can't" out of our vocabulary as you see how he DID.

If anything, I sincerely recommend everyone go at least watch his video story. It's just a few minutes of your time, it is put together in such an out-standing way....and it is so genuine and inspirational that, like me, you'll get back to busting butt this week to make YOUR millions!

This may sound like a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway. If you could make one little niche site that would put $200 per month in your wallet, wouldn't you want to create as many of those little sites as you possibly could?

I know I sure would! And that is exactly what successful niche marketers do. They build EMPIRES of these niche sites.

So what is an empire? A niche site empire is a cluster of small but profitable mini sites that are continually updating and growing. New sites are always being added and the old sites are always being maintained, updated with new content, improved etc.

Niche Marketing - How Does it Work?

The principle of creating a niche site empire is not so much that every site you create will be highly-profitable, but by making them in large quantities, you will be testing which niches are the most profitable - and which niches are duds.

Test and tweak, test and tweak..... continue to do what IS working - and STOP doing what shows no potential.

You know the whole 80/20 principle right? That 20% of your actions will account for 80% of your results? This totally applies to niche marketing. 80% of your income will come from just 20% of the sites you make. While this isn't a bad thing, it does mean that 4 out of 5 sites you create won't be as profitable as you'd like them to be - BUT 1 of each 5 sites will be a grand-slam home run.

How Many Niche Sites Does it Take?

So that means in order to find that one killer niche site that earns 4 figures a month on its own you'd have to have the ability to create 5 niche sites. Are you with me? That means the chances are if you want 10 super high profit niche sites you'd need to pump out 40 or 50 sites to find those 10 golden nuggets. From experience I can say this - that is a LOT of niche sites....AND a LOT of work.

Now it may sound like these are pretty bad odds and a ton of work. It's also most likely true that the majority of people trying to make money from niche marketing aren't going to do what it really takes to find those 10 profitable niches.

But that's only because creating the kind of niche empire I'm talking about has in the past used to be so much work. Building sites, and then promoting them, and then constantly updating them, and then managing them can be an exhaustive nightmare if you're trying to do it all alone.

Don't give up quite yet. =)

What's cool is that the information and resources needed to really help someone create a niche empire is easy to get. There is a great resource to help you with all this and make your niche marketing life SO much easier.

You'll still need a "take action" attitude and a little bit of old fashioned elbow grease, but really....anyone can become a niche marketing wizard. Well, that is, IF they take action =)

We online marketers spend a great deal of time in forums, don't we? I know I certainly do. I have learned so much from the wonderful people that participate within the threads of internet marketing forums. Simply by reading their insight and conversations about making money online and building a business was both educational and inspirational.

I read every single word he ever typed in the forum. It was clear to me that Jamie knew the things I needed to know. His marketing skills are excellent, his products always over-deliver, and his ability to anticipate trends and niche markets is amazing. He is one of few internet marketers that I follow - and watch (no, not in a stalker way! lol). I completely respect a few online marketers that quietly go about kicking ass and taking names working their butts off day after day - and spend ZERO time blowing their own horn or jumping on the latest and greatest like the others that flood our inboxes repeatedly day after day.

What a great day! I came across two really cool ways to make some more money online. They're both new to me - and both are F-R-E-E!

Many of us use Adsense to monetize our niche blogs. Adsense is easy enough to use, but there are two problems with it (from my perspective).

1 - Well, pardon my "french", but the payout pretty much sucks.

2 - When someone DOES click an adsense ad on your site, sure, you make a few cents, BUT you just lost your reader. Whatever action that viewer takes after clicking your adsense ad will not be of profit to you. But, hey - you did make 10 or 15 cents. Whoopie.

So I came across this little program for webmasters/bloggers called Auction Ads. Totally free to use (which makes me like it even more..haha!).

Auction Ads makes MORE money than Adsense, and can be used WITH adsense - that's a nice "plus" to this totally free revenue-generating program, isn't it?

Auction Ads work with the eBay affiliate program. I placed one of the ads on my right sidebar down towards the bottom. No, those type ads don't really "fit in" on this blog, but I like using this blog to show different ideas for making money with niche blogs. I guess it can make this blog look a bit "cluttered", but I think you come here for information - not to be dazzled, right? Right. Besides, I really want a new laptop, so those ads will help me keep an eye out for a great deal.

ANYWAY - for a product-specific or review type site, these ads are awesome. With Auction Ads you get to choose the keywords that decide which products will be shown on your site. there are different ad formats and colors to choose from and over-all, it is WAY easy to use.

The ads are linked to auctions on eBay.

How do you make money? Lets get that answer straight from the source:

In this quick post, I'd like to show you how you can quickly and easily build niche content sites that require you to do a little setup work in the beginning but will continually update themselves on autopilot. First let's talk about what a content site is. We'll then get into how to build then, and finally how to profit from them.

A content site is a site that is targeted to a specific niche. Usually it's a smaller niche and not a huge niche like, for example, animals. Instead a content site would be on a smaller niche like dogs. All the content on the site is totally on that one smaller niche. I'm sure you've visited many content sites without even knowing what type of sites they were.

The great thing about niche content sites is that anyone can easily develop and profit from them. many people think this is a hard task but with some simple tools and knowledge it can be very easy to do. So let's dive right into creating niche content sites and the steps you'll need to follow.

The first thing you'll need to do is pick a niche for your content site. It can be something your interested in or something that you just think of off the top of your head. Don't let picking a niche take up a lot of your time. It's really easy to do. Just pick something as your first niche as a "practice run". Once you've learned how to set them up then you can worry more about selecting the right niche.

Once you've picked your niche you'll then need to do some keyword to build your content site around. This can easily be done with any type of keyword research tool. If you search online you can find many different keyword research tools both free and paid. Do some research and pick on that will fit you and your budget.

Now here's where the fun begins. Pick a template to use for your content site. You can also find both free and paid templates online by searching around in any search engine. By using a template, you can choose how you want your site to look without having to know how to actually design and build a site. Once you have a template, load it up to your site and get ready to add your automatically updating content to it.

This automatically updating content will come from RSS feeds that you add to your site. You can search for RSS feeds by going to blog directories or RSS directories around the web. Even some article directories will provide you with RSS feeds. These are probably my favorite feeds to use because the content is usually very good. Be sure to use your keywords to find RSS feeds related to your niche.

The best thing about using RSS feeds is that you don't have to create the content. Other people create the content and by using their RSS feed the content is placed onto your site. Each time they add new content your site gets new content without you having to do anything. But how? That's a good question...

In order to add an RSS feed to your site, you'll need to use some kind of RSS aggregator. You can find both free and paid ones online that will give you instructions on how to use them to add RSS feeds to your site. Most are very easy to use, so don't let this big "techy" term scare you.

After you've your site setup with the RSS feeds added to it, you'll have complete automatically updating content site.

The term Niche Marketing, when applied to the internet marketing industry, simply means marketing products online to smaller, and more focused, markets that are under-served by the marketing community. As an internet marketer, you probably already understand how a high volume of searches matched with a low number of search engine returns equals gold. There are lots of folks looking and ready to buy, but not much for them to find - until you come along and dominate that niche.

One of my favorite online marketers, Andrew Hansen, came out with a "little" product earlier this year called Niche Marketing on Crack. This "little" product of Andrews rocked the internet marketing community. I can remember it being announced in the Warrior Forum and the marketing "frenzy" it created. I feel certain that I am not the only one that really got a lot out of that product. Best part is, Niche Marketing on Crack was not about an internet marketing fad. This system, and this advice still apply, and probably will for a long time.

The basic premise behind Niche Marketing on Crack is a system to find small, under-served markets online, and building small and tightly-focused websites to serve that market - and making a lot of money in the process. The whole system Andrew lays out is excellent - keyword research, market research...the whole enchilada. And it's all so darn easy! Many, many online marketers are following this concept every day - even though they may have NO idea of who Andrew Hansen is or about that "little" product he created. (Sadly, many that never read Niche Marketing on Crack are doing it all wrong, too. Yikes!)

He walks the walk and I completely respect that about him.

Earlier today, it was brought to my attention that Andrew Hansen has a new niche marketing report out.

It took me all of three seconds to decide to buy it (shoot, for $7, what's to think about? It's from Andrew Hansen for goodness sake!)

This report on Niche Marketing is very, very good. Andrew talks about the future of niche marketing and the things we, as online marketers, will need to do to adapt to the changes. I've read it twice already and I have to say, this report really opened my eyes and helped me to re-adjust my thinking towards niche marketing as a whole.

Andrew also offered solid ideas for building a long-term online business and some really great ideas for making some quick money online with a small amount of effort. His idea on page 21 is pretty awesome it's nice to read an internet marketing report that actually has fresh and new ideas in it.

I feel like I got a secret insiders look at the way he runs his online business and niche marketing efforts as he shared his tools that he uses (no, these are not promotional tools that he is promoting for profit). As someone who is very focused on niche marketing with blogs lately, I can't wait to try all this stuff out.

I was disappointed that the report was not longer than the 29 pages I received - I really wanted him to keep talking for another 100 pages! But hey, how much can someone give away for $7?

A few of the things Andrew talks of in his niche marketing report upset me a bit - these were revelations that caused a bit of the ol "paradigm shift" that I need to hear...but really didn't want to hear about the niche marketing business.

If you are looking for 29 pages of miracle "magic bullets" that will require no work on your part but will make you rich over night, this is not a report for you. However, Andrew did share a solid idea for "quick money" that the selfish side of me is ok if you don't want to know (more for me! haha!)

Now, if you are serious about your online business and want solid information about niche marketing from someone who knows what he is talking about - I highly recommend the tiny $7 investment.

I have been blogging my butt off. Seriously - I don't think my butt is there any longer. Or, my butt is just numb from sitting here at this computer for hours on end as I've been creating my empire of niche blogs.

But (butt?), no matter how burnt-out I am right now, I am loving niche blogging. Each niche blog is a different niche. I opted to not do the whole "tie all your blogs together in a niche network" method. I like variety...don't tie me down to one subject. Besides, if all the niche blogs are closely related in topic, wouldn't it get boring and repetitive? I know it sure would for me!

I really put off getting into blogging. I knew it was a powerful free resource that I was ignoring. I also knew it was the perfect platform to tie article marketing and Squidoo together, but I still didn't do it.

Why? I think some of it may have had to do with "learning burnout". Coming into internet marketing there is SO much to learn, and I taught myself so much. It seemed every step I took I found more to read and a heap that I didn't know that required me educating myself about.

I think I got tired of learning =)

Finally, I took the plunge and took my own blogging advice for new bloggers. Then, I delved into niche blogging.

Basically, niche blogging is blogging about very tightly focused topics and gearing the reader towards one, or two, affiliate products or monetizing actions. Adsense is a common blog monetization technique, but I'll tell ya what... I was in NO hurry to try and make another $3.50 a month from adsense ads (sarcasm intended...thank you for noticing). Finally, I gave in and learned how to earn money from adsense on niche blogs and actually see results of it working. Each niche blog I add to my collection justs adds more revenue to my pocket now that I "get it".

I know there are professional bloggers out there that make really good money from one individual blog. However, I don't think that is a reality for the average joe (or jane). Blogging for profit for those that want no overhead and very little investment takes a LOT of blogs.

And that is exactly what I've been doing - making a LOT of blogs...and each blog takes a LOT of content and keyword research.

So, I've been blogging my butt off. But, by golly, I can already see results! When you combine niche blogging, article marketing, and Squidoo....wow.... total niche domination.

I'm hoping that by blogging my butt off now and getting all the seeds planted, that I will be able to golf my butt off more later while my niche blogs make money for me with a lot less work.

I'm all about this computer of mine generating long-term passive income for me. If that means a case of numb-butt for a few months in exchange for a healthy, low-effort income coming in later - I'm all for it!
